Day 9: Dabkeh and Reflections

Today was a day of rejuvenation and deep reflection at Camp Go Palestine. After a whirlwind week, our campers were allowed to sleep in, an essential recharge for the vibrant spirits eager to make the most of their camp experience. The morning started with a reflective session, allowing the campers to introspect and share their feelings, insights, and memories from the past days. This set the tone for a day deeply rooted in culture and aspiration.

The highlight for many was the Dabke lesson. For the uninitiated, Dabke is a traditional Palestinian dance that speaks volumes of the region's history, culture, and collective spirit. Samer Karajeh of the Funoon troupe drilled the campers on the basics of Dabkeh.

However, the pinnacle of the day was the session led by Fadi Quran, a renowned Senior Campaigner at Avaaz and a Popular Struggle community organizer. With Fadi's guidance, our campers embarked on a profound journey of imagining the liberation of Palestine. They explored their dreams, hopes, and aspirations for a liberated Palestine, discussing what that vision might entail and how they, as the next generation, can contribute to making it a reality.
